Home Ownership Matters for Greater Lansing, Michigan REALTORS

NAR President Moe Veissi declared that state and local associations and REALTORS® who made the National Association of REALTORS Rally to Protect the American Dream were a huge success. Approximately 15,000 people came to Washington D.C. and another 14,000 participated online. NAR was joined by 12 members of Congress, and the message about supporting property rights and housing was heard through 10.5 million media impressions, including coverage on CNN, CNBC, and more. We caught a snap shot of a few local Lansing REALTORS together at the Rally. (Pictured above left to right, from the Greater Lansing Association of REALTORS are Jeff Burke (Current President) Mike Bowler (Member), Laurie Koelling (Immediate Past President), Chris Wretschko (Director), Pete Holoway (President-Elect/Treasurer)

The rally was part of NAR’s week-long Midyear Legislative Meetings, during which Realtors® and guests meet with members of Congress, federal regulators and industry experts to address pressing real estate issues and public policies in support of private property rights, homeownership and housing issues.

Sometimes the consumer and even REALTORS ask the question: What is this NAR, MAR and GLAR that you REALTORS refer to as organizations you belong to? Below is the short answer on each of them:

We are members of the Greater Lansing Association of REALTORS®!

The purpose of GLAR is to serve its Members and community by providing progressive leadership, education, and knowledge in the expanding real estate industry; by anticipating future needs and trends; by providing services, programs, and materials to enable Members to conduct their individual businesses successfully with integrity and professionalism; and by promoting the American concept of the free enterprise system, always mindful to preserve the right to own, sell, and use real property.

We are members of Michigan Association Of REALTORS®

As members of MAR, REALTORS® have the assurance of solid support on the issues that matter most to them. MAR provides strength on a legislative level, and provides services that enhance each member’s ability to succeed in their profession. MAR advances positions on bills to promote REALTORS® professional interests and those which protect the rights of private property landowners. MAR created the REALTORS® Political Action Committee, the real estate industry’s insurance to promote and protect the real estate profession for all MAR members. MAR also provides special advocacy e-mail updates through Calls to Action via a comprehensive grassroots communication internet tool. MAR’s staff is here to assist you and answer your questions. We work with your local board, as well as NAR, to bring you information you need and the right resources to build your business.

We are members of the The NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®

NAR strives to be the collective force influencing and shaping the real estate industry. It seeks to be the leading advocate of the right to own, use, and transfer real property; the acknowledged leader in developing standards for efficient, effective, and ethical real estate business practices; and valued by highly skilled real estate professionals and viewed by them as crucial to their success.

Working on behalf of America’s property owners, the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® provides a facility for professional development, research and exchange of information among its members and to the public and government for the purpose of preserving the free enterprise system, and the right to own, use, and transfer real property.

Hopefully this gives the public and other REALTORS a better explanation for “Why” a National, State, and Local Association of REALTORS is important.
